Western Kentucky receives automatic bid to the NCAA tournament

The sense of deja vu inside the Summit Arena in Hot Springs, Ark., on Monday night was rather overpowering, especially for the Florida International Golden Panthers. You see, FIU became the latest team to experience the full impact of a Western Kentucky darkhorse run through the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Everything that happened one year ago came into place once again in Hot Springs for the Sun Belt’s biggest …

Louisiana-Lafayette advances to play (1) Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinals on March 9
The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns dismissed the North Texas Mean Green from the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Friday at the Summit Arena in Hot Springs, Ark. When no other bowls took Louisiana Tech, the Bulldogs were out of a bowl game. In their place, the Ohio Bobcats will journey to Shreveport, La., to take on the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in what is a very intriguing game.
As is common with many teams in the smaller conferences, the shootout is the preferred way to go about …

Little Caesar’s Bowl: Western Kentucky vs. Central Michigan
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers didn’t finish their regular season with the authoritativeness they were hoping for. Nevertheless, the group from the town of Bowling Green, Ky. (not to be confused with the town of Bowling Green, Ohio), is thrilled to be in the college football postseason in 2012. Why? It didn’t get the chance to enter this rodeo last year.
Yes, Western Kentucky went 7-5 in 2011, but coach Willie Taggart’s team was not invited to a bowl game. The snub stung WKU, but …
