Florida International punched its ticket for the NCAA tournament by winning the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Murfreesboro, TN over the weekend.
With top 40 RPI’s, Florida Atlantic and UL-Lafayette knew they would likely receive bids. However, they would have to wait until Monday to find out their destiny for sure.
The Owls and Ragin’ Cajuns weren’t disappointed, as they both received bids.
FAU (35-22) is the No. 2 seed in the Gainesville Regional. The Owls are paired with Pac-10 at-large selection Oregon State (31-22) in their first game. …

South Alabama rode a strong outing by pitcher D.D. Hanks and handed Florida International a 7-1 loss in the opening game of the Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Murfreesboro, TN.

Florida Atlantic jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead on No. 6 Florida, but the Gators overcame that early deficit to defeat the Owls, 7-3, on Tuesday at McKethan Stadium.

After dropping two of three to Memphis over the weekend, UCF continued its solid play out of Conference USA by posting a 14-3 blowout win over Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton on Tuesday night.
FAU (29-16, 17-7), which sits in first-place in the very strong Sun Belt Conference, had won 11 of its last 12 games coming in.

After getting swept at home by Southern Miss over the weekend, Tulane needed a win badly in Tuesday’s match-up with UL-Monroe at Turchin Stadium.
